The Community Center for Education Results (CCER), which supports the Road Map Project initiative, is hiring a Community Engagement Manager with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with community, district stakeholders and parents in diverse communities. Through Community Engagement and capacity building efforts, this position will catalyze collective action by working closely with communities and institutions to design and implement equitable solutions to systemic problems. Candidates must be highly organized and able to lead from an antiracism lens and possess a keen understanding that family engagement and parent leadership development is an equity strategy.  

Who We Are 

The Community Center for Education Results (CCER) is a 501(c)(3) organization that was originally founded in 2010 as the backbone for a King County education initiative known as the Road Map Project, and we have since become Washington state’s leading expert in educational data and research. We drive systems change by centering student experiences, engaging families and communities, and bringing together a wide range of partners to transform education in Washington. We continue to support the Road Map Project Region to improve educational outcomes from early learning through postsecondary, in a region consisting of seven King County, Washington school districts: Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, (South) Seattle, and Tukwila. This area is home to more than 127,000 K-12 students: 72 percent are youth of color; 55 percent are from low-income households; and 22 percent are English language learners.

Position Overview 

The primary functions of the Community Engagement Manager consist of 1) mobilizing the Parent Leadership Team, 2) stewarding the implementation of Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT), representing CCER as a key partner to the Washington State Family Engagement Center, and 4) coordinating a workgroup dedicated to advancing the System-Wide Racial Equity Essentials. This position will report to the Executive Director.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Community Engagement & Coalition Building 
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across communities including students, parents, community groups/leaders, practitioners, districts, agencies, and funders throughout the region.  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with and among community-based organizations and higher education institutions that are focusing on family engagement in the region 
  • Facilitate and support the development of multiyear workplan that will include the creation of regional tools as well as support the advancement of the Road Map Project System-Wide Racial Equity Essentials. 
  • Provide community partners with opportunities for community engagement around projects/programs   
  • Plan and organize community engagement events  

 

Mobilize Family Engagement Strategies
  • Co-facilitate a professional learning community of school district leaders focused on family engagement policies, practices and strategies – including communications, scheduling, agenda development, facilitation, and documentation. 
  • Identify opportunities to build capacity among parents, educators (school-based staff) and district/school leadership. to adopt and implement effective family engagement strategies.  Work collaboratively with parent leaders to mobilize a vision toward creating equitable systems of healthy school family partnerships.  
  • Serve as a regional resource on equity-driven student, family and community engagement strategies, partnership, reciprocity, collective impact, and public learning. (Example: Dual Capacity-Building Framework) 
Management & Administration
  • Assist with grant applications and reporting: analyze data, run reports, and gather necessary information  
  • Manage various projects and maintain accurate and timely records for all community and family engagement initiatives 
  • Stay abreast on evidence and best practices as it relates to family and community engagement  
  • Develop written materials (reports presentations, newsletters etc) to communicate progress of family engagement initiatives  
  • Develop written materials and solicit/incorporate feedback. 
  • Build and manage MOU’s with partner organizations, government agencies, schools etc.  
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working in a community engagement capacity  
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other agency-specific software. 
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication; strong project management. 
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. 
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to address challenges and facilitate solutions with groups. 
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license, pass a criminal background check.

  • Knowledge and/or lived experience in education systems within the Road Map Project region.

  • Adaptability: Ability to work towards meaningful engagement with depth, quality; using qualitative goals in addition to whatever deliverables a grant or organization-wide goal is asking for. 
  • Transformational Relationships: Builds relationships internally and externally that are based on trust, understanding and shared commitments.

Compensation & Benefits 

The salary range currently budgeted for this position is $70 – $82K annually, depending on experience. Excellent benefits package, including health, vision, dental and life insurance as well as a 401k plan with employer match. CCER is an equal opportunity employer.
