Community collaborative groups such as the Road Map Project that work on issues impacting opportunity youth operate within a context of structural inequity that makes achieving equitable outcomes challenging. This report from the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions outlines a range of strategies to keep an explicit focus on equity:

  • Creating a culture within the local community of focusing on equity
  • Using disaggregated data to document and track disparities
  • Focusing on priority populations (such as foster-care youth or boys and men of color) to mitigate the effects of structural inequity
  • Challenging existing institutionalized barriers
