Marian serves as the Special Advisor, Community and Impact supporting the Community and Family Engagement team as well as the Racial Equity Impact team. Marian has brought her passion for learning and cross-cultural connections through her career spent in early childhood education and travel operations and enrichment. She earned a BA in English from the University of Washington and an MA in English Literature from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. Born in the Philippines and raised in the South Puget Sound region, Marian has spent over a decade helping adults improve their English language and literacy skills and serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board for Lake City nonprofit Literacy Source. Marian has fond memories of growing up near Dash Point State Park but considers any place near the Puget Sound her favorite place in the Road Map Project region.
